BIO
Victoria is a percussionist, drummer, chamber musician, collaborator, and educator dedicated to continually advancing her skills as a performer. She was raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and started playing piano as her first instrument.
Victoria’s interest in music started early on in school and developed into a passion not just for playing percussion but also finding ways to meld music with other art forms. She received her BM in Percussion Performance from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2023. There, she has been involved in as many ensembles and performing experiences as her schedule could handle. These included Wind Ensemble, University Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Choirs, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, and New Music groups. While dedicating most of her time and technique to classical music, Victoria also developed a deep love for jazz music. In her last two years at UW-EC as an undergrad, she immersed herself in learning jazz drum set as well as funk, rock, and pop styles. While playing drum set, one focus of hers has been to study women influences in the jazz genre. She is a founding member of the all-women’s jazz combo, SOCATA, that focuses on studying and performing works by female jazz composers. As a collaborative learning ensemble, they have worked on researching women composers, their performing styles, and how they have impacted the jazz genre today. The group has been invited to perform in multiple different recitals and collaborations on the UW-Eau Claire campus including diversity recitals, research/presentation concerts, and the annual Viennese Ball.
Victoria also has a strong passion for percussion ensemble repertoire. During her undergrad, she has been involved in many percussion ensemble groups which have performed works by Paul Lansky, Ivan Trevino, Third Coast Percussion, Emmanuel Sejourne, Keiko Abe, Alex Stopa, and many more. She has performed in Wisconsin’s Day of Percussion 2022 festival (Madison, WI) as well as many student recitals during her undergrad.
While music is a huge part of her life, goals, and career she is also pursuing a side hustle in aviation. Victoria holds a Private Pilot Rating and IFR Rating. She is currently working on her Commercial and CFI ratings. She hopes to become a commercial pilot and be a freelance percussionist as a dual career. In the little free time that she isn’t caught playing percussion or flying she loves spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, swimming, and biking.
